  • My LG had the best time ever. She usually takes quite a while to take to new places and groups but Kat made her feel comfortable from the start and she gained so much confidence in one lesson. The games that we did were great and made it feel like it wasn’t even a lesson at all.

  • My daughter is 2 and a half years old and today managed to do roughly 20 seconds lying on her back with her neck on a noodle in a star fish position and jumped in from the side of the pool and kicked her way back up to the surface without me catching her!! I could cry at how well she does at swimming! Honestly Dinkies is the best money we spend all month! Absolutely fantastic instructors who get the best out of Emily every single week! Thank you!! Xx

    Could not reccomend Dinkies Swim School enough! Especially Kate the swimming instructor. I was nervous when I first took my daughter swimming but that didn’t last long. Kate is so understanding and very patient, she is great with the little ones and always goes at their pace. My daughter is 1 and from start to finish she smiles and giggles (and so do I). It is such an interactive class and you start joining in with the songs because they are so catchy and addictive. My daughter has came on amazing since starting, she now loves going swimming.

    I have been going to Dinkies with my little girl for a few months now. I started when she was 7 months old but I wish I’d known about Sophie’s classes sooner. My baby absolutely loves her swimming sessions. Sophie is a fantastic teacher and we love all the little songs, & even sing them at home in the bath! I have recommended Dinkies to so many people as I think they are the best value around for swimming lessons! 💙

Isla had never been swimming before starting and she is now confident in the water including wetting her face and going underwater. Can’t wait for our next term and learning loads of new skills. Kirsty has been an incredible mentor for Erin and helped her become confident in the water. Erin was terrified in the first few weeks and has had a phobia of water for a while to the point where a bath was a huge challenge. Now she loves the bath and she is becoming more and more confident every week in the pool. Kirsty’s delivery and patience is perfect to enable kids to learn at their own pace. Thanks for everything so far, and can’t wait to keep learning!

  • It took us a long time to make a decision on where to take our 14 week old daughter for her swimming lessons. We definitely made the right choice. Kirsty took the time to message us and answer every question before we did our trial. We booked up for the term in the carpark straight afterward! We feel so comfortable following Kirsty’s instruction, she is kind and knowledgable. Thank you so much Kirsty!

Frequently Asked Questions

Our regular lessons operate on a rolling monthly basis, and four weeks’ written notice is required to cancel your child’s place.

Notice must be sent by email or by replying to a booking or payment email from Dinkies Swim School. Your notice period begins on the date we receive your written cancellation.

Your child’s place and payment responsibility will continue throughout the four-week notice period. Any Direct Debit falling due during this period must still be paid.

Cancelling your Direct Debit does not cancel your child’s place and does not count as giving notice.

If your notice period ends partway through a month, your final payment will be calculated so that you pay only for the lessons taking place during the four-week notice period.

Cancelling your Direct Debit does not cancel your lessons or replace the requirement to provide four weeks’ written notice.

Any lesson fees falling within your notice period will remain payable.

If a Direct Debit is cancelled, rejected or otherwise unpaid, Dinkies Swim School may recover any reasonable bank or administration charges we incur as a direct result, up to £10.

Monthly payments reserve your child’s regular place in their class.

Unfortunately, we cannot normally provide refunds, credits, transfers or catch-up lessons when a participant misses a lesson because of holidays, minor illness, family commitments, transport difficulties, school events or other personal circumstances.

This helps us keep lesson prices as affordable as possible while ensuring our teachers and pool hire costs are covered.

If your child develops a serious or long-term medical condition that prevents them from attending for an extended period, please contact us. We will consider the circumstances individually, and medical evidence may be requested.

If we cancel a lesson because of teacher absence, a pool problem or another issue within our control, affected customers will receive a refund or account credit for that lesson.

If the lesson continues to operate but an individual participant does not attend, a refund or credit will not be provided.

If circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent a lesson from taking place, we will contact affected customers as soon as possible.

Depending on the circumstances, we may rearrange the lesson, provide an account credit, transfer the lesson to a suitable alternative venue or provide a refund.

If the lesson remains open and runs as scheduled, refunds or credits will not be provided if a customer chooses not to attend because of the weather.

Children who are not fully toilet trained must use our approved double-nappy system:

  1. A disposable or reusable swimming nappy; and
  2. A properly fitting, swim-school-approved neoprene nappy cover worn over it.

Children who are fully toilet trained do not need to wear a disposable or reusable swimming nappy. However, they must still wear a properly fitting neoprene nappy cover where this is required by their class or venue.

Approved neoprene nappy covers can be purchased from Dinkies Swim School for £10 before attending. You may purchase one elsewhere, but you are responsible for checking that it is suitable and swim-school approved.

Please take all used nappies away with you.

Entry to the pool may be refused if your child is not wearing the correct approved nappy system.

A refund, credit or alternative lesson will not be provided when entry is refused for this reason.

Please do not attend swimming lessons if you or your child has:

Vomiting or diarrhoea;

Conjunctivitis;

Chickenpox;

Impetigo;

A contagious infection;

A significant ear infection;

A high temperature; or

A severe cold or illness that would make swimming unsuitable.

Vomiting and diarrhoea must have stopped for at least 48 hours before attending swimming lessons.

If your child only has a mild cold but is otherwise well, has no temperature and is behaving normally, they may be able to attend. Please use your judgement and seek medical advice if you are unsure.

Refunds, credits and catch-up lessons are not normally provided for lessons missed because of illness.

Babies do not normally need to have completed their immunisations before swimming. Dinkies Swim School lessons begin from 12 weeks old. If your baby was premature, has a medical condition or you have any concerns about whether they are ready to swim, please speak to your doctor or health visitor before attending.

Try to avoid giving your child a large meal immediately before swimming.

A light feed or snack may be suitable depending on your child’s usual routine. Swimming can be thirsty and tiring work, so we recommend bringing a drink and a snack for afterwards.

For parent-and-child lessons, one responsible adult may enter the pool with each child.

The accompanying adult must be at least 16 years old and physically capable of supporting and supervising the child safely.

Parents, guardians and grandparents are welcome to take part, and you may swap the participating adult between different weeks.

Whether additional spectators are permitted depends on the individual venue. Please check your booking information or contact your local Dinkies team before attending.

An accompanying adult is required in the pool throughout all parent-and-child lessons.

For independent swimming lessons, parents or responsible adults must remain in the location specified by the teacher or venue and be available throughout the lesson unless we confirm otherwise.

Please arrive approximately 10–15 minutes before your scheduled lesson. This allows enough time to change without overcrowding the changing areas.

Lessons normally last between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the class, venue and circumstances.

Late arrival will not extend the lesson, so please make sure you are ready at the scheduled start time. Do not enter the pool until invited by your teacher.

Please ask the teacher before taking any photographs during a lesson.

Photographs must show only your own child. If another child is visible, the image must not be shared or published without permission from that child’s parent or guardian.

Video recording and underwater photography are not permitted during lessons.

Photography, filming and the use of camera-enabled devices are strictly prohibited in changing rooms and toilet areas.

Hello there and Welcome to Dinkies Swim School. It has been a lifelong ambition to run baby swimming lessons for new-born babies and toddlers way before I had my children and started taking them swimming. I swam from a very young age and wanted my children to be confident around water the same as I am. I put both my children through local private swimming classes, as well as my husband and I taking them swimming at every chance we had and we loved every second of it. From seeing their shocked faces when we first put them under the water, to watching them confidently jump into the pool at such a young age on summer holidays is absolutely priceless.

Our aim at Dinkies Swim School is to provide a relaxed & welcoming environment where each baby/toddler is receiving the necessary time to grow their confidence in the water. This is at a pace which suits each individual whilst making it affordable for parents, many of whom are on maternity leave. Our lessons are a mixture of games and song based activities. Children learn through repetition and through sounds, linking actions to songs to enable them to learn the skills they need to swim. Our lessons are fun, friendly and very interactive. Within our lessons we teach children not only how to swim but how to stay safe in and around the swimming pool.

All of our teachers are trained to the highest standard and all take time out of their lesson to get to know you and your little one. More parents than ever are enrolling their infants in swimming classes, some at just a few days old. A recent survey by the Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) showed an 84% increase in the number of babies under the age of two having swimming lessons over the previous two years. They estimate that more than 300,000 babies and toddlers in the UK are now taking classes. *All of our lessons start from 12 weeks old, we suggest that this is when you start lessons as this is when a baby can regulate their own temperature to enable them to stay comfortable in the water.

Our lessons can be booked through our Book Lessons Tab on our website. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with your local Dinkies Swim School area by clicking here. Alternatively each area has their own Facebook Page Thanks for all your love & support Dinkies Swim School.
